Location
Plaža Stomarica sits at the northernmost end of Brela, where the coastal path eventually runs out of beach and the pine forest takes over entirely. It is a long way from Punta Rata by Brela standards — thirty to forty minutes on foot along the promenade — and that distance is the point. The people who make it here tend to be staying nearby or have specifically come looking for something quieter, which makes for a noticeably different atmosphere than the beaches further south.
The cove is small and sheltered. Water clarity is excellent — the bay offers some natural protection from afternoon chop, and the pine trees at the back provide real shade rather than the kind you have to pay for. The pebble is medium-sized and the entry into the water is gentle.
There are no cafes on the beach itself. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for hire but the pine shade is free and often better. If you want food or a cold drink, you are looking at a walk in either direction. Come prepared or plan to stay put.
Stomarica is also a recognised anchorage for small boats, so the bay occasionally has company of a different kind — though not usually in ways that spoil anything.
The practical case for coming here is simple: it is the quietest proper beach in Brela. In July and August, when every other beach in the area is packed wall-to-wall by 10am, Stomarica holds its shape. The trade-off is that it is not convenient, facilities are limited, and the walk home in afternoon heat is real. Worth knowing in advance.
